Abstract
We will talk about corporate IT learning, when it's required to transfer nontrivial and changeable knowledge among colleagues.
- The nontrivial knowledge is like programming languages and frameworks, abstractions and models, processes and procedures.
- Rapidly changing knowledge is such that it can not be acquired once from a book or a course and then used forever instead requiring constant learning to keep up-to-date.
- Cost effective Peer to Peer (P2P)-learning described here is based on colleagues training each other without any invited training specialists.
We will not discuss managerial issues (e.g. mentoring, motivation, etc) but instead concentrate on real working approaches and tools, which we successfully use and develop.
Yes, there is a lot of e-learning systems, but they are rarely used in software development companies, because they are not usable and agile enough in the real world.
By the way the word "Agile" in the title of the talk is not directly connected with buzz-words from Agile-manifesto, only capacious word "Agile" is used, which means mobile, light-handed, quick, nimble, quick-witted.
These terms exactly refer to those simple, economical and efficient tools which we want to tell you about.
- How to make preparation of highly effective multimedia materials for self training, presentations and even seminars simpler and faster?
- How to prepare such materials collectively to spread the load?
- How to preserve these materials from seminars and trainings in a reusable form to be used as a self guided training by absent students or as a refresher for those attending?
- What is the easiest way to make effective interactive training simulators and examination systems?
- How to turn employee's job related internet browsing into effective knowledge "mining" and sharing?
We will talk about all these topics, but the benefit to you will not be limited to learning about our experience («talk is cheap, show me the code»©, as Linus Torvalds says). You will be able to use all these tools covered in the talk for free, because we will publish them as open-source projects.
